COUNTY-WIDE Pastoral Council

The Parish Pastoral Council is a consultative body of parishioners who share with the pastor providing vision and direction to the parish. It acknowledges its origins in the Second Vatican Council, is in accord with universal and Diocesan church norms, and with The Catholic Communities of Greene County as the model pledges responsible use of all gifts and resources to meet individual, parish, and community needs. It works with and relies upon various boards, committees, and groups that carry out the work of our parish even as the Parish Pastoral Council provides a conduit for communication with all those organizations. Members are responsible for good communication both on an ongoing basis as circumstances may demand throughout the year. 

The Pastoral Council is appointed by the parish priest for a 2 - 4 year term.

The ministries within the church community is necessary to keep the “Church Alive!” It is the goal of the pastoral council to respond to these ministries and provide any needed training and support.

Member Guidelines:

To be eligible for membership, individuals must meet the following qualifications found within the Lay Ministries Handbook for Parishes and Institutions.

1. Fully initiated Catholics having received the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist, who are registered and active in parish live, are in good standing with the Church and have reached the age of 18.
2. Persons with an understanding of and commitment to the Church as expressed in the documents of the Second Vatican Council.
3. Persons committed to prayer, Gospel values and growth in personal holiness.
4. Individuals knowledgeable about the life and teachings of Jesus, the mission of the Church and the distinctive characteristics of the parish, its ministries and its people.
5. Individuals skilled in group process, interpersonal communication and collaboration.
6. Those willing to participate in on-going faith formation.

 In the Diocese of Pittsburgh, it is also necessary that all those considering membership on a Parish Pastoral Council read, understand and sign the Code of Pastoral Conduct.
